Lethbridge Legal Guidance provides free legal advice, information and advocacy to individuals across southern Alberta who are experiencing financial difficulties and need legal services and representation, but do not qualify for Legal Aid Alberta. Please note, Lethbridge Legal Guidance does not guarantee representation in court.
Lethbridge Legal Guidance is one of six legal clinics in Alberta that are available to provide help. The other clinics are located in Calgary, Red Deer, Medicine Hat, Edmonton and Grande Prairie.
Volunteer lawyers provide legal information and advice on a variety of legal issues, which includes but is not limited to:
- Family issues, such as separation and divorce, adult interdependent relationships, custody, and child and spousal support;
- Civil issues, such as debt, small claims and landlord/tenant disputes;
- Employment issues, such as wrongful dismissal, wage disputes and discrimination;
- Income support issues related to Alberta Works, AISH and Canada Pension Plan;
- Immigration issues, such as permanent resident and citizenship applications; and
- Criminal law.
